Les Harbeth M40 ont toujours été réputées pour leurs timbres et musicalité hors normes.
Mais les anciennes versions 40.1 et 40.2 avaient un grave envahissant, lourd et plutôt monochrome…
Il fallait de très gros amplificateurs, et plus de 50 m².
C’est pourquoi beaucoup s’en séparent.
A l’inverse, les versions 40th Anniversary et XD ont grave profond mais très rapide, dynamique, avec une scène sonore beaucoup plus précise.

Et elles fonctionnent déjà admirablement avec de ‘petits’ amplis comme un Naim Supernait, même dans 25 mètres carrés !

I enjoyed it so much, it was hard to stop listening to it.
Familiar recordings all sounded better than I thought they could.
It is the one I’ll remember 10 years from now. It’s that good.
The Harbeth effortless treble clarity, full-bodied midrange, as well as its robust, visceral and finely tuned bass are all magnificent.
I’ve played this music on hundreds of speakers over the years, but the 40.2 was the most lifelike.
